Clovertex Target of the Month (07/24): PA

We are excited to announce that Protective Antigen has been selected as Clovertex’s Target of the Month for July. Protective Antigen is a critical component of the anthrax toxin and plays a vital role in the development of anthrax vaccines, such as BioThrax, which protect against the bacterial infection caused by Bacillus anthracis.

This spotlight on Protective Antigen comes following the recent news of Emergent BioSolutions securing a 5-year, $235.8 million contract with the U.S. Department of Defense to supply the BioThrax anthrax vaccine to various branches of the United States military. This procurement underscores the continued need for protective measures against anthrax exposure, particularly for military personnel at high risk. Protective Antigen remains a key focus for vaccine research and development, ensuring long-term protection and national defense preparedness.
